Tokyo
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games marked the first time the Olympics had ever been postponed – they were held instead in 2021. Accommodating this change took extensive coordination, regarding facilities and services, with Tokyo and its neighboring prefectures, in which many competition venues were located.
These Olympics were not just a sports competition, but also an opportunity to pass on the experience and legacy to future generations, both in terms of the events and the places involved.
The metropolitan area centered on Tokyo has a highly developed transportation network that allows for convenient and quick access to all the neighboring prefectures.
The Japan National Stadium in Tokyo was the Olympics’ central stadium. Meanwhile, the Games left a legacy in the four neighboring prefectures of Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, and Yamanashi. These areas are rich with attractions that visitors can easily access, as they are so well connected.
