Yamanashi

Introduction

Yamanashi Prefecture, home to Mt. Fuji, is blessed with nature throughout the four seasons and has diverse sights to enjoy.

Legendary Mt. Fuji, registered as a World Heritage site, is a symbol of Japan. And within Yamanashi, the peak can be seen from many different views and in many appearances, depending on the season and climate.

Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and four other national and quasi-national parks are located in this nature-rich region. The area is home to the beautiful Fuji Five Lakes, the tranquil Kiyosato highland resort, majestic temples and shrines such as Erinji and Kuonji, and a wide variety of hot springs, including Isawa Onsen.

Not only Mt. Fuji, but also the Southern Alps and Yatsugatake Mountains, are beautiful venues for mountain climbing, visiting hot springs, nature appreciation, camping, and other outdoor activities.
With its abundant sunshine and water, the region is a major producer of fruits such as grapes, peaches, and cherries, and is Japan’s top wine-producing region, with 80+ wineries.
