Lumière Winery
Lumière Winery, a long-established winery founded in 1885 in Fuefuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture, has maintained a commitment to quality for nearly 140 years, guided by the belief that “to make authentic wine, you must grow authentic grapes.” They produce highly acclaimed wines both domestically and internationally, utilizing Japan’s first European-style underground fermentation tanks and grape cultivation methods close to nature. The stone-built fermentation tanks, built in 1901 under the guidance of Denbei Kamiya, are a nationally registered tangible cultural property and were designated as a component cultural property of Japan Heritage in 2018. To this day, traditional winemaking using the stone-built fermentation tank is performed once a year, with the resulting wine sold as Ishikura Wine. This prestigious winery continues to challenge itself with innovative production, combining long-cultivated winemaking techniques with the passion of young winemakers.
