In this journey, you’ll stroll around Ueno known for its numerous tourist attractions, and Ariake, an area where many Olympics legacy spots can be found. In the Ueno area, must-see spots are the commemorative plaque for the Olympic torch lighting ceremony atop the roof of the Taito City Office, and the famous Ameyoko Shopping Street, which grew from a post-war black market, to today’s home to over 400 shops. The Ariake area includes Tokyo Big Sight, Japan’s largest international exhibition center, which served as a media hub during the Olympics, and right next to it is the Stone & Light Plaza, a square serving as a hub for people to gather, plus the first hydrogen-fueled cauldron in the Games’ history.

DAY2 CHIBA

This journey sends you around three areas of Chiba—Ichinomiya Town, Kamogawa City, and Minami-boso City. Tsurigasaki Surfing Beach is located at the southern end of Chiba’s famous Kujukuri coast in Ichinomiya and was chosen as the surfing venue of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games as the beach boasts world-class wave quality.
A historical temple known as the birthplace of Nichiren Shonin, Tanjoh-ji was built in 1276. This temple houses valuable cultural properties, and visitors can experience sutra transcription (tracing sutra characters with a brush or pen for tranquility and mental cultivation) inside the temple.
Located in Kamogawa City, the 375 rice terraces of Oyama Senmaida offer a unique rice field ownership system to enable farmland maintenance through interaction with city dwellers. This location is selected as one of Japan’s 100 Best Terraced Rice Fields.
Ota-ya, a long-established fan maker that originated from Edo-style fans, now carries on the tradition of Boso fans. Today, the family’s fourth-generation owner runs the business. Visitors can experience fan-making here at Ota-ya.

This journey lets you cycle around the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture on a bicycle. Located on the foothills just an hour and a half from the city center, Heguri Hub is a multi-purpose facility that offers dining, lodging, and coworking spaces accessible not only to cyclists but to anyone. At Minamiboso City’s only suspension bridge, you can enjoy the natural beauty of autumn leaves, green foliage and waterfalls.
Gallery & Café FUNAKATA SOKO is a renovated 100-year-old stone warehouse made from Boshu rock, a tuff suited for building materials. The venue offers a gallery, exhibiting oil paintings by local artists, and a café.
Haraoka Pier, also known as Okamoto Pier, is known for its beautiful sandy beach with a gently sloping shoreline and dazzling sunset against the backdrop of Mount Fuji. This wooden pier is a popular spot for photography.

On this journey, you can go exploring through the Asakusa area, one of the prominent tourist spots in Tokyo, while taking photos of the scenery and enjoying various activities at the same time.
View the plaque at the 15-kilometer mark of the course, commemorating the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Marathon held on September 5, 2021, located in front of Kaminarimon Gate.
The Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center, located right next to the plaque, is a tourist information facility in front of Kaminarimon Gate. It offers tourist information in four languages. There are many spots around here where you can get a marvelous view of Tokyo Skytree®. Besides the observation terrace at the Tourist Information Center, the rooftop observation deck at Asakusa Halle Terrace, just a 5-minute walk away, also provides excellent views of the tower, where you can also enjoy its nighttime illumination.
