Mitake Shosenkyo

Mitake Shosenkyo is a nationally designated Special Place of Scenic Beauty located in northern Kofu City of Yamanashi Prefecture, renowned for its spectacular scenery as “Japan's most beautiful gorge.”
Its unique landscape woven by granite cliffs and bizarre rock and boulder formations carved away over millennia, along with its clear flowing water, has been ranked No. 1 in the Gorges Category of Japan’s Top 100 Tourist Spots ranking.
