Designated as a Michelin three-star museum, the Kubota Itchiku Art Museum features a permanent exhibition of Itchiku Tsujigahana, which is a revival of the sixteenth century “tsujigahana” decorative dyeing technique by modern-day artist Itchiku Kubota. His collection features a series of kimono works themed on Mount Fuji and the beauty of the four seasons. The entire space is a comprehensive artistic environment meticulously planned with Itchiku Kubota’s unique aesthetic sensibility, which extends beyond the artworks themselves to encompass the garden, the architecture, and the arrangement of furnishings procured from around the world. In addition to the beauty of the exquisite art of dyeing, the museum also houses Itchiku’s collection of antique glass beads known as “tombo-dama” in the New Wing, along with a museum shop and café. This unique museum lets you step away from the daily hustle and bustle and spend a quiet moment with Itchiku Tsujigahana works.
