Doryu Falls
Doryu Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in the Kawamata River Valley of the Yatsugatake Mountains at an elevation of 1,250 meters (4,101 ft). Its elegant form, with a drop of 10 meters (32.8 ft) and a width of 15 meters (49.2 ft), is captivating. Named Doryu, which means “dragon's breath”, for its mystical beauty, where water flows down like silk threads from between rocks covered in greenery, it possesses a Japanese garden-like charm distinct from the typical image of a powerful waterfall. 10 minutes on foot from the parking lot along a trailway next to the clear Kawamata River, which also allows visitors to enjoy the valley’s beauty adorned with fresh greenery or autumn foliage. A hugely popular spot in summer for those seeking a cool respite, it is considered the most beautiful waterfall in the Kawamata River Valley. Here, you can simultaneously feel the powerful yet tranquil force of nature woven by the abundant underground waters of the Yatsugatake Mountains.
